On Tuesday, I traveled to Washington, DC, where administrators and student leaders of the SUNY system and federally-elected representatives came together to share their experiences and advocate for one of the best state school systems in the country. The event was called SUNY Day DC. I had the privilege of meeting highly motivated and passionate students as well as congressmen; Senator Kirsten Gillibrand and Senator Chuck Schumer also came to make a few, but very important, remarks regarding higher education and young people in America.

The District of Columbia is filled with countless examples of sophisticated architecture, from elegant Greek and Roman Revival government buildings and monuments to sharp and modern museums and professional office spaces.
